On March 17 of this year, Research Institute Legal Policy of under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) office in Uzbekistan held an online seminar on “Economic Liberalization and Enhancing the Role of the Judiciary in Protecting Rights”.

The seminar was organized within the framework of the Japanese Technical Assistance “Economic Liberalization and Enhancing the Role of the Judiciary in Protecting Rights”.

Uzbek and Japanese lawyers and experts in the field of other spheres were attended in this seminar. In particular, Director of the International Relations Department of the Institute for Research and Development under the Ministry of Justice of Japan Taro Morinaga delivered a speech on “Civil Law in the Transition Period to a Market Economy” and Professor of the International Relations Department Kota Kuroki on “Principles of Civil Procedure in a Market Economy”.

In turn, the employee of the Research Institute of Legal Policy under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Safarova was attended with lecture entitled “Issues of improving the civil legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

Judges and professors were attended in this event and discussed issues such as civil legislation in the transition period from a planned economy to a market economy, the basic principles of civil procedure in a market economy, the improvement of the Civil Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
